A Message from FMCA regarding digital conferencing

Dear Chapter Officers,
We understand that during this Global Pandemic with COVID-19 your chapter may not be holding regular meetings. We have researched some possible options to help you decide whether to hold your chapter meetings virtually which may be of benefit to you and your chapters.
The definition in the FMCA National Bylaws of a properly called meeting is “an official gathering in one area of its members at which a quorum is present or where some or all of the members communicate with the other members through electronic means such as the Internet or by telephone. All participating members must have the opportunity for simultaneous aural communication. The notice for an electronic meeting will include adequate description of how to participate.”
If your chapter bylaws have been updated to include the option for an electronic meeting that meets the above definition, you may want to do additional research to see which option may suit your chapter’s needs.  Most of these services have a free trial.  We hope that you find a way to either hold a meeting in person using Social Distancing Guidelines, and/or select a virtual meeting option and continue with your chapter’s annual meetings.
There are plenty of options to review.  We’ll get through this stronger than ever before. Some of the services you can review are Free Conference Calling; Go To Meeting; Google Hangouts; Ring Central; Skype; and Zoom.

We wish your chapter well and hope you are staying healthy.
